Jordan E. Obey

Jordan is an award-wining writer based in Brooklyn, NY. A graduate of William and Mary College and Columbia Journalism School, he currently writes a variety of original sketch comedy and screenplays of various genres.

Jordan is a former member of Upright Citizen Brigade’s Maude house team Villain and a current member of Maude team Pamela, who perform new material monthly at UCB theater as well as across the New York City comedy scene, such as the Del Close Marathon and the New York Comedy Festival. Separately, Jordan’s work has been featured in UCB’s weekend sketch show Assssketch, as well as in standout UCB writer highlights such as the UCBNY Writers Showcase.

Aside from Upright Citizens Brigade, Jordan has written award-winning original and spec scripts. His spec script for “What We Do in the Shadows” was the Comedy Teleplay Spec Winner at the 2023 Austin Film Festival. In 2024, he was selected to participate in The Orchard Project’s Episodic Lab. Recently, he produced and wrote a short featured in the Art of Brooklyn film festival. His screenwriting spans genres like comedy, horror, and animation, and as a half-black, half-Arab New Yorker raised overseas, he brings his unique perspective to his work.
